Peer Review Process
The Vertex Journal of Economic Sciences (VJES) follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process to uphold the highest standards of academic quality and research integrity. The journal uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), to manage submissions and reviews transparently and efficiently.
Every submitted manuscript undergoes a preliminary editorial evaluation to determine its relevance, originality, and adherence to the journal’s scope and submission guidelines. At this stage, manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and formatting. Submissions that do not meet these requirements may be declined without external review.
Double-Blind Review Process
Manuscripts passing the initial check are anonymized and sent to at least two qualified reviewers with expertise in the subject area. Both the authors’ and reviewers’ identities remain confidential to ensure impartiality and eliminate bias. Reviewers assess submissions based on:
- Originality and scholarly contribution
- Conceptual and methodological rigor
- Engagement with relevant literature
- Quality of analysis and argument
- Clarity of presentation and referencing
Based on their evaluation, reviewers recommend one of the following outcomes: accept, accept with minor revisions, revise and resubmit, or reject.
Revision and Resubmission
If revisions are required, authors are provided with consolidated reviewer comments and a deadline for resubmission. Revised manuscripts may undergo further review to confirm that the required changes have been satisfactorily addressed.
Final Decision and Production
Once a manuscript is accepted, it proceeds through copyediting, typesetting, and proofreading. Final proofs are shared with authors for approval before publication. The article is then published online with a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
Confidentiality and Ethical Conduct
All peer review activities are conducted in strict confidence. Reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest and are expected to review submissions with fairness, professionalism, and discretion.
Review Timeline
Editorial decisions are typically communicated within 4 to 6 weeks from the date of submission. Authors who wish to withdraw their submission during this period must provide a formal written request with the consent of all co-authors.
